Mecca Bingo Review 2024

According to the BingoData Report, Mecca Bingo is the 2nd most popular online bingo site in the UK. It is also one of my personal favourites.

There are always loads of players in the rooms which means not only decent prizes but also that Mecca can invest in exciting new bingo games and promotions that you often won’t find anywhere else. There are several ‘Mecca Originals’ bingo games that were developed exclusively for Mecca as well as all of the usual Playtech favourites, such as Rainbow Riches Bingo & Deal or No Deal Bingo.

Premiere Jackpots is just one of a number of features you’ll find in this review that makes Mecca stand out from the crowd. It was also redesigned in November 2020 and is now one of the nicest-looking bingo sites around.

They’re also doing some fantastic promotions, many of which feature live shows broadcast into the bingo rooms, with celebrity guests and phone-in prize games.

Mecca has been around for so long it’s unlikely you aren’t already a member. If you’re not, why not?

Bingo Clubs

Mecca Bingo has 82 bingo clubs across the UK and although the website is mainly aimed at people who want to play bingo online, there is a dedicated section for club information. If you click on ‘Clubs’ from the main menu you can use the search box to find your local bingo hall.

Each local Mecca Bingo club has its own page with all the information you may need such as opening times, telephone number, menu, bingo schedule and ticket prices. Importantly you can also check if your club is closed due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

How To Find The Bingo Games

Thanks to the recent Mecca Bingo redesign it is really easy to find your favourite bingo rooms and get playing. Once you log in it will show a list of your most recently played games and below that a selection of bingo rooms which you can filter between most popular, new, special, 90 ball and 75 ball.

To see all of the available bingo rooms you can either click on ‘Bingo’ in the top menu or click on the ‘Play Bingo’ button, the latter of which will launch the bingo lobby, which is where the games take place. If you’re on a desktop you may want to click on the browser to maximise the size to full screen for the best experience.

There are plenty of rooms to choose from at Mecca

Once you’re in the lobby you can see all of the rooms. On desktop, there are links down the left-hand side where you can find slot games and session bingo, as well as filters to show specific types of bingo such as the special rooms, 90-ball, 75/80 ball and BOB (Best Odds Bingo).

On mobile, the lobby is a bit of a mess in my opinion, with lots of different tabs at the top. Some you can swipe left/right but it isn’t obvious you can do that. My advice is just to scroll down the first list as by default it just shows all the bingo rooms.

Bingo Games Available

Mecca Bingo has a variety of games to choose from. These include the following:

Session Bingo Games

One of the great things about Mecca Bingo online is that they have a Session Bingo room, where you buy a whole hour of bingo for a low price, compared to buying individual tickets for each game.

Each session plays up to 15 games of bingo, with early, afternoon and twilight sessions costing just £5. The main evening session is a bit more at £10, but still decent value considering the amount of games you will play.

Also, they apparently have special chat games in the sessions where you can win back your stake, which gives another bit of fun to the event.

Session Times:

  • Early Session: 9.30 am
  • Afternoon Session: 1.00 pm
  • Main Session: 7.00 pm
  • Twilight Session: 11.00 pm

To find the session room just launch the Mecca Bingo lobby and then select ‘Session Bingo’ from the options on the left-hand side, or if you’re on mobile tap where it says ‘Session Bingo’ just above the list of rooms.

How To Make A Deposit

If you are on the main Mecca website, there should be a deposit button somewhere at the top of the page, depending on whether you’re looking at the old or newer version of the site. On the old site the deposit button appears as a piggy bank icon, on the new site it is a more traditional-looking button with ‘Deposit’ written on it.

If you’re in the bingo lobby or inside one of the bingo rooms there are further ways to get to the deposit page, depending on whether you’re on a desktop or mobile.

If on mobile, you have to click on the icon in the top right which displays your current balance. This will then drop down a few different options, one of which is deposit. If you’re on desktop, there is a deposit icon at the top just above all the games that you can select. You can also click on Menu > Deposit over in the top left corner.

Once the deposit page appears you can choose from the following payment methods:

  • Debit Card
  • Click to Pay (VISA)
  • PayPal (can be used from your second deposit onwards)
  • Paysafecard

I had never heard of the ‘click to pay’ option before, but it appears to be some kind of thing for VISA cards where you can set up one-click purchases (or deposits) at online vendors.

Simply follow the instructions on the screen to make your deposit. It says that the minimum deposit amount at Mecca Bingo is just £5, but please check any promotional T&Cs first as often with many bingo sites certain bonuses only trigger if you deposit £10 or more.

How To Withdraw

As you’ll find at most bingo sites, there isn’t a big shiny button that says ‘Withdraw’ in the same way there is for depositing. On the old Mecca website, you select Account > Withdrawal from the main menu. On the new site, first, click on the account icon in the top right and then select Cashier > Withdrawal.

It will show your withdrawable balance and ask how much you wish to withdraw. Enter the amount and confirm your password, then confirm which withdrawal method you wish to use. Typically it should only allow you to withdraw from a method you have previously used to deposit. This is just basic anti-money laundering requirements.

It does say that withdrawals can take 1 to 3 working days to reach you depending on what method you use. Typically I find that PayPal is the fastest method so I use this whenever I can for all my online bingo deposits for this reason.

Cash Out In Club

If you fancy cashing out your winnings at your local club you can make up to one withdrawal a day between £10 and £100 in any Mecca club. To do this you have to call 0800 083 1988 between 8.00 am and 12.00 pm and they’ll make arrangements for you to pick up your winnings between 10.30 am – 9.00 pm. This is of course subject to the club being open and not closed due to lockdown restrictions!

Money can go the other way too, so if you want to add money to your online account you can make one deposit a day between £10 and £100 in any Mecca club. Don’t forget for both these arrangements to take some ID with you.

There are some minor T&Cs with this feature so check out the info on Mecca’s promotions page first. It’s not something I imagine many people would use when you can just get winnings sent to your bank account easily enough.

Free Bingo At Mecca

There is a 90-ball bingo room at Mecca Bingo called ‘Lucky For Some’ which is where you’ll find the majority of free bingo games throughout the day. However, not every game has free tickets. The ticket price changes on every game, so sometimes it is free, sometimes 1p, 5p or even 10p if it is a Mecca links game.

The best thing to do if you want to know when all the free bingo games are happening is enter the room and then select ‘Schedule’ from the menu. You can then scroll through all of the bingo games taking place in Lucky For Some and see exactly when the ticket prices are free.

If you see any games called ‘Free or Superbooks!’ then this means you can get free tickets but with the option to pay in order to increase the potential prize money. So for example, the full house prize for winning with a free bingo ticket could be £2 whereas if you had paid for superbooks the same full house would have been £24.

Premiere Bingo Jackpots

Several of the bingo rooms at Mecca have a feature called Premiere Bingo Jackpots. This works like a traditional progressive jackpot, but there are 5 different jackpots that can be triggered, each guaranteed to pay out at different times.

  • Bronze Jackpot: £10 fixed prize – won on average every 2 hours.
  • Silver Jackpot: £50 fixed prize – won on average twice a day.
  • Gold Jackpot: £100 fixed prize – won on average once a day.
  • Platinum Jackpot: Progressive from £5k – won on average twice a month.
  • Diamond Jackpot: Progressive from £10k – won on average once a month.

I believe these jackpots are in most of the bingo rooms that are exclusive to Mecca and not part of the wider Playtech network. If you’re in the lobby on desktop or the mobile app it is easy to tell because they have a little red crown icon next to them, but for some reason on the mobile site, they don’t display it. Last time I checked the Premiere Jackpots were available in the following bingo rooms:

  • Main Event Bingo
  • Lucky For Some
  • 75 Jive Talking
  • Burst Bingo
  • Emoji Bingo
  • Mis-Shapes Bingo
  • Penny Lane
  • Rollercoaster
  • Supersonic
  • Two Little Ducks

When you’re in these rooms you will from time to time see the Premiere Jackpots feature appear on screen as a kind of spinner, with the various jackpots spinning through it. I’ve yet to see it in person being triggered as a win, mostly it pops up to say no winner! However, if you check out the promotions page they do have a list of all the biggest winners of the Platinum & Gold Jackpots which are just crazy amounts.

Mecca Links

Another regular promotion that Mecca has is called Mecca Links. This is basically where they link together multiple 90-ball rooms across Mecca to create a larger-than-normal base prize. These take place on the hour, every hour from 9.00 am every day.

They even have special Mecca Links games such as Mecca Links Penny 500 which plays at 7.00 pm and 10 pm every day, and has a prize of £500 for 1p a ticket. There is also a £1,000 game at 9.00 pm. Be sure to check the bingo schedule for the latest info as it may be subject to change.

Mecca Link rooms include:

  • Main Event Bingo
  • Lucky For Some
  • Two Little Ducks
  • Penny Lane
  • Rollercoaster

Mecca Lucky Stars Jackpot Games

Another cool feature that is exclusive to Mecca is the Lucky Stars game which is sometimes scheduled in Main Event Bingo. If you check the bingo schedule you can see these games indicated by a yellow star icon.

When a lucky star game is in play, there is an extra £250 jackpot added to the regular game. If you buy 6 or more tickets for these specific games you get a starred number on each ticket. If you then claim full house on that starred number, you trigger the jackpot.

A nice extra feature, which is not heavily promoted but is something I only noticed very recently.

Does Mecca Bingo Have An App?

Yes. Mecca does have a dedicated bingo app available on both Android via the Google Play Store and iOS via the Apple App Store.

I sometimes use the mobile app over the mobile site just because the bingo lobby is a lot cleaner on the app than it is on the mobile browser. Below you can see the mobile site has lots of tabs at the top whereas the app just hides those completely. However, when you are in a bingo room there is no way to jump back to the lobby, so you have to go to the homepage first and then click bingo to get back. It can become a little annoying doing that at times. The mobile site doesn’t have this issue.

Mecca Bingo Contact Details

The website has a number of support contact options, including the following:

Live help is available between 7.00 am – 10.15 pm, 7 days a week. Telephone support is available between 9.30 am – 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Of course, you can email them 24/7 and can expect a reply within a day.

Mecca Bingo Sister Sites

Mecca Bingo is considered an independent website, however, the parent company operates the following sister sites:

Mecca uses Playtech (Virtue Fusion) software, so although the following brands are not owned by the same company, they will provide a somewhat similar gaming experience:

Who Owns Mecca?

Mecca Bingo is owned by The Rank Group Plc who are also well known for being the operator of Grosvenor Casino, which are the UK’s largest casino operator. As well as the Mecca Bingo website they operate a total of 82 bingo clubs across the UK which have over 8 million visitors every year.

In recent years, Rank Interactive has been expanding its online bingo portfolio beyond Mecca with the acquisition of Stride Gaming in 2019. Stride was the parent company of both Daub Alderney and Netboost Media, who between them managed dozens of smaller bingo brands including Lucky Pants Bingo, Kitty Bingo and Moon Bingo to name but a few. All of these brands and more are now part of the Rank Group, making Rank one of the biggest online bingo companies in the UK market.

Because of this acquisition, we are now starting to see some of Mecca’s exclusive bingo games appearing on these sites.

Rank has offices in Gibraltar, Maidenhead and Sheffield, while Stride has offices in London, the Channel Islands, Mauritius, South Africa and Israel.
